CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Games and Sports
Games and Sports: Physical fitness and the concept of sportsmanship are developed through regular sports activities for both girls and boys. Football, Cricket, Throwball, Volleyball, Basketball, Badminton,Table-Tennis, Carrom, Chess and other Indigenous and Indoor Sports find an important place in our Curriculum.We have a full-fledged Cricket Ground with newly-laid turf wickets besides a cemented pitch for regular year-long practice. The School also has ground for a 200 hundred meter Athletic track,Basketball courts, Volleyball courts and Badminton clay court, as well as a Football field. The players participate in Inter House and Inter School Tournaments which are held to foster potential, talent and social relationships. All Saints' is one of the main organisers of various inter-school sports competitions. The Iris Auer (M.B.E.) Memorial Cricket Tournament is a regular feature in this series.
Teams lined up to welcome Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, former President of India, during His Excellency�s visit to All Saints� in April, 2013.
YOGA
Yoga, a means to a healthy life, is part and parcel of the curriculum at All Saints�. The students perform Yogic activities under the supervision of expert teachers. These students practice and learn Yogic Aasanas which help them in terms of good health and all round personality development.
The annual schedule of Yogic activities is conducted as follows:
Classes I to V � July to February | Basic exercises. Pranayama in all its manifestation. Various Aasanas (Yogic Postures) Yogic Mudras. Surya Namaskar. |
Classes VI to X � July to February | Basic exercises. Advanced forms of Pranayama. Various Aasanas. Advanced Yogic Mudras Surya Namaskar. |
Karate
Karate, as one of the martial arts, is an indispensable part of the curriculum in All Saints�. The students, especially girl students are encouraged to practice Karate skills. Till date, the School has 22 Black Belts, 104 Brown Belts, 176 Green Belts, 402 Orange Belts and more than 600 Yellow Belts to its credit. All Saints� is the pioneer in the launching Inter-House and Inter-School Karate Competitions in the city. Many of our students have opted for Karate as their vocation and are working as trainers abroad.
Dance
Indian Classical Dance Classes are a popular and regular feature in our Curriculum which are taught by expertly trained and experienced artistes . The Schedule Includes: Kathak, Bharatnatyam, Mayur Bhauj Chan and folk dances of all the States in our Country. Talent is discovered and developed in students from Classes I � X. Correct pronunciation and chanting of the �Shlokas� related to the respected dance themes are practised. The students also attempt exercises in connection with various body movements and postures during the dances. The Khathak and Bharatnatyam training includes Guru Vandana, Shiv Vandana, Footwork practise, Mudras, Griva Movements, Rhythmic exercises, expressions and attributes of Dance-Dramas. The movements and exercises of the respective dance forms are developed and practised according to the age-groups and progression of the standard attained.
Performances at House and Annual Functions are an extension of this year-long training and enjoyment.
INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC
Students (Classes IV to VIII) are taught.
INDIAN CLASSICAL: (1) Tabla: Basic skills, Types of �Taal�, Rupak, Kehawa, Dadra. (2) Harmonium: Notation, Sargam, Raag, Aalap. (3) Jhanjhi, (4) Markaz, and (5) Khanjari are also taught to accompanyists.
WESTERN GENRES:
(1) Piano, (2) Synthesizer, (3) Congo Drum, (4) Bass Drum, (5) Side Drum, (6) Jazz Drum, to give co-ordinated performances which are upgraded in accordance with the interest and standard achieved of groups as well as individuals.
PLEDGE FOR SPORTING EVENTS
We, the students of All Saints� School, do promise to uphold the value and dignity of all sports in which we take part. We will keep the rules and give of our best, bearing in mind that the important thing is not whether we win or lose, but that we have worked together to foster the spirit of healthy competition and fair play for the honour and glory of our School, our State and our Country.
